Catholic crushes McDevitt in quarters

The last time the Lancaster Catholic Crusaders (24-6) played the McDevitt Crusaders in January, Catholic won. Today makes it two in a row.

But the stakes today were quite a bit higher, as the Lancaster Catholic ladies are now heading to the PIAA Class 4A semifinals after a resounding 62 to 46 victory at Manheim Township High School. They will play Villa Maria-Erie on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

All you need to know is Catholic’s sophomore star Kiki Jefferson pounded in 19 points with 12 rebounds while Lily Fritz and Peyton Jaquis nailed five 3-pointers between them. Throw in Lauren Mills’ 12 points and you have a rout. Catholic went on a 15-1 run to close out the second quarter.

Any thoughts about another matchup with Northern Lebanon in the playoffs were dashed as the Vikings lost at the buzzer today 43-42, so their season ends.
