Her name is Sabrina Ryan.
She’s already thrown a no-hitter this season for the Pequea Valley Braves.
Today however, she gave up three bunt singles while striking out 18. She struck out the first 9 batters she faced. In the game she struck out the sides 5 times.
Her effort along with her teammates, and five errors committed by the Crusaders, helped the Braves to defeat Lancaster Catholic 9-2 win at Stauffer Park. Pequea Valley stays undefeated in Section Four play and in first place.
Ryan’s pitch selection includes a rise pitch that is impossible to catch up to. And a fastball that hits the corners of both sides seemingly at will, which freezes hitters.
Sabrina is a senior and will be attending F&M College where she will major in chemistry and play softball.
She was also a member of the prestigious 2016 Carpenter Cup Softball Champions last summer.
The Berks/LL girls softball team won the 2016 Carpenter Cup and made history, as the Berks/LL team had never won the Carpenter Cup before.
They went undefeated 5-0, staying in the winners’ bracket the entire tournament while playing against all-star teams from Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
Each year more than 400 high school players from the tri-state area are able to showcase their skills in front of college/university coaches. The Carpenter Cup has been a catalyst for many players to receive scholarships or admission to some of the country’s finest universities.
