Comets beat Donegal 2-1 in semifinals

Field Hockey Semifinals: Both teams came in undefeated, both teams were ranked as the top 2 in the country in one poll, but only one would move on to the finals in the L-L League Field Hockey Championship. And that will be Penn Manor, as they defeated Donegal 2-1 at Warwick High School tonight under the lights.

The Comets will play Manheim Township who defeated Lampeter Strasburg 7-0 in their semifinal match. That game is scheduled for Thursday evening at Conestoga Valley.

Emma DeBerdine put the Comets on the board within the first two minutes of play. The Comets led at half 1-0.

Donegal came out aggressive early in the second half as Mackensie Allesie tied the match.

Moments later Briana Harsh on an assist from Emma DeBerdine scored what would be the winning goal for the Comets.

Last year Donegal beat the Comets 1-0 in the L-L League title match.

Both teams came into the semifinals at 19-0 without any competition in their respective sections.

Penn Manor outscored their opponents 122-4 en-route to their 11th Section One crown in a row.
Their goalie Brit Hook was responsible for 15 shutouts.

Donegal won its second Section Two title since moving up from Section Three last year. The Indians have outscored opponents 182-10. The Indians’ goalie Katie Jean had 14 shutouts.
