Lebanon Catholic wins District Title

There have been other basketball dynasties in PIAA competition but few teams have ever won 4 District basketball championship titles in a row or reached the 20 total plateau. But that’s what the Lebanon Catholic Beavers did yesterday at the Giant Center.

They defeated Linden Hall in the District 3, Class 1A title game 46-36 victory to capture their 20th District title in a very storied program.

The game however was closer than the final score might indicate.

Going into the fourth quarter Catholic was down 31-30. A surprise? No, Linden Hall is a bigger team than Catholic and they kept pace through the first three quarters with rebounds on both sides of the glass.

Then Catholic went on a 10-0 run and the game was over.

Next up, the Beavers will take their 22-6 record into the PIAA state playoffs where they will attempt to repeat as state champions in Class One.

Linden Hall is now 18-5 on the season as they prepare for state games.

I believe this is Lebanon Catholic head coach Patti Hower’s 40th year on the bench. She has amassed over 700 wins.
