Remembering McCaskey’s Kobe Gantz

McCaskey’s Kobe Gantz Class of 2016, was one of the great ones to play in the LL League.

He now plays at Delaware State.

Gantz, a 6-3 guard, had offers from Rider and LaSalle and some interest from schools as disparate as Drexel, Marquette, Wisconsin, Temple and New Mexico State.

“Some of the high-major schools wanted me to go to a prep school to get bigger,” Gantz said. “I wasn’t interested in doing that.”

Gantz was a second-team Class AAAA All-State pick as a junior and senior. He led the Tornado to the state tournament both years, and on a remarkable run to the state semifinals, as the eighth seed from District Three, in 2015.

Gantz averaged 19.2 points per game as a senior, during which he added another dimension to his game as a ballhandler and passer.

He averaged 17.8 as a junior, but over 26 per game in the state tournament.
