Catholic’s 2018 State Title Game

With the 2019 basketball season about to start, I thought it would be fun to look back at Lancaster Catholic’s state title win last season. Here is the full article with video of game and interviews.

Thirty two wins and no losses. It is in the books and it is official. The Lancaster Catholic Crusaders are the first undefeated state champion in Crusader girl’s basketball history.

This afternoon they defeated Berks Catholic 51-36 in the PIAA Class 4A title game at the Giant Center. This is their 4th PIAA title. The last was in 1996.

Berks Catholic led after the first quarter 11-10 thanks to a Molly Duncan 3-pointer from half court. In the second half the Crusaders opened with a 14-5 run that put the game out of reach.

Kiki Jefferson led the Crusaders with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Only in her junior year, she has scored over 1,800 career points.

Berks was led by Abigail Gaffney’s 14 points. Dejah Terrell led the team with 14 rebonds while adding 12 points.

This was the third time this season the two teams had met. The Crusaders last beat them in the District 3 finals.

Enjoy the highlights and interviews. What a season! What fun. No one who saw them play will ever forget this team.

They won the L-L League Section 3 title, the L-L League title, the District 3 title, and the state title.

And next season they only lose senior Lauren Mills. Look for this team to be fantastic next season too.
