Cocalico’s Emily Stauffer, one of the top throwing talents in the state, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Missouri.
She had a break out freshman season winning league and district shot put titles but suffered a shoulder injury as a sophomore.
As a junior at the New Balance Games she set a record with a shot heave of 45-4 ¼. She also won the LL-League and district shot gold. She finished fourth PIAA finals with a throw of 43-7. She uncorked a 47-5 ½ to win the district title.
Stauffer believes she can reach the 50-foot shot mark this season.
She considered Penn State, Ohio State, Nebraska and South Carolina and Oregon before choosing Missouri. Her former Cocalico teammate Jhet Janis, a javelin thrower, is on the Oregon track and field team.
Emily plans to major in Business Administration.
