Ephrata wins District 3 Class 5A Title

The Ephrata Mounts can now add the District 3, Class 5A Championship to go along with their LL-League Title this year, after defeating Cedar Cliff 4-2 at Wenger Field today.

This was the Mounts’ second District title in 3 years. They last won in 2016. This is also their 18 consecutive win. They are now 24-3 on the year.

They were led by the arms of Adam Schwartz and Hunter Johns and the bats of Adam Schwartz and Tim Beever.

Beever went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs. Schwartz had 2 hits both doubles.

The Mounts’ senior and D1, University of Connecticut recruit Adam Schwartz pitched 6 innings giving up just 4 hits and a walk, while striking out 4 batters for the win.

Mounts’ Hunter Johns came on in relief in the bottom of the 7th inning with the bases loaded and no outs. He proceeded to strike out the first batter, induce a fielder’s choice and a fly out for the save.
