L-L Basketball starts today.

Before we start the new season a tip of the hat to the LS Pioneers who won their first L-L championship last year.

Here was the article and video highlights.

Call it destiny, call it the relentless pursuit of a dream, call it what you like. But after tonight, you have to call the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers the champions of boy’s L-L League basketball. They earned that distinction by defeating the defending league champion Lancaster Catholic Crusaders 50-40.

This is the Pioneers (23-2) first L-L League basketball championship title in school history. They have been a dominate force in the league for a long time.
In fact, they have won Section Two the last 3 years in a row. But tonight it’s official, they have won a league championship.

The Pioneers’ Issac Beers was relentless tonight, slicing his way through the Crusader defense with 22 points. He was the driving force he needed to be as Catholic held Pioneers’ 6’10” Ryan Smith to just 12 points.

But Smith still made his presence known, blocking half a dozen Crusader shots under the basket and rebounding at will.

Catholic took an early lead but then were shut down in the second quarter, scoring only 7 points.

The Pioneers took control of the game with a 21-5 run in the first quarter. They took the lead and never looked back.
