Warwick to finals first time since 1990

After winning a quarterfinal game against Lancaster Mennonite with a buzzer beater the night before, the Warwick Warriors left nothing to chance by defeating the Cedar Crest Falcons 72-47 Thursday evening at Conestoga Valley High School.

The did so with an onslaught of eleven three-pointers. Led by Colby Martin’s four treys and Joey McCracken’s three.

The Section Two title holders will now play Manheim Township, the Section One title winners, who defeated Elizabethtown in the other semifinal matchup for the Lancaster Lebanon League title.

This marks the first time in 29 years that a boys basketball team will appear in a league title game.

They will have to contend with the L-L League’s leading scoring threat senior guard Tyler Crespo, who also set a new career scoring record at Township.

However recent history is on the Warriors side. Back on December 14th, they defeated Township 75-73, even though Crespo scored 30 points.

The loss for the Cedar Crest Falcons’ was their fourth in five outings. They started the season with a 17-2 record.

Cedar Crest is the runner-up from Section One, will carry that 18-6 overall mark and a number-four seed into next Friday night’s District Three Class AAAAAA opener, at home against an opponent still to be determined.
