Warwick’s boys great basketball season comes to an end at the hands of the Central York Panthers in the first round of the District 3, Class 6A playoffs. Final score: Panthers 82, Warriors 51.
The Warriors won the L-L League Section Two title and they played Manheim Township in the L-L League title game. That was their first trip to the finals since 1990.
Central York broke open a 7-5 contest with a 9-0 run to take a comfortable lead they would never relinquish. Led by a game-high 20 points from Alex Salter as well as double-figure scoring by three others, the Central boys advanced to the quarterfinals with a convincing 82-51 triumph over the Warriors.
The seventh-seeded Panthers (18-6) will travel to No. 2 seed Chambersburg (19-5) Friday evening at 7 p.m., with the winner clinching a berth into the PIAA playoffs. Chambersburg had a first-round bye.
