The Hempfield Black Knights watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-5 loss to Warwick on Wednesday. Video highlights will appear later.
Warwick scored on a single by Katelyn Minney, a triple by Danielle Jones, a single by Marissa Treibley, and a single by Mackenzie Stewart in the first inning.
The Hempfield Black Knights struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Warwick, giving up 11 runs.
Warwick opened up scoring in the first inning, when Minney singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Warwick scored seven runs in the fourth inning led by Catie Brubaker, Jones, Treibley, Evie Clugston, Allison Forsythe, and Emily Beale, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Minney earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Warwick. She went seven innings, allowing five runs on 11 hits, striking out eight and walking one.
Gabi Turner took the loss for Hempfield Black Knights . She lasted six innings, allowing 12 hits and 11 runs while striking out eight.
Hempfield Black Knights pounded out 11 hits in the game. Kendall Fruchtl, Turner, and Anastasia Berardi each collected multiple hits for Hempfield Black Knights . Berardi, Turner, and Fruchtl each collected two hits to lead Hempfield Black Knights .
Warwick tallied 12 hits on the day. Beale, Jones, Minney, and Treibley each had multiple hits for Warwick. Beale led Warwick with three hits in three at bats. Warwick was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Stewart had the most chances in the field with eight.
