PIAA Quarterfinals: The Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers defeated Twin Valley today 9-3 to move on to the semifinal round in the Class 5A PIAA tournament.
The game was played at Millersville University’s Seaber Softball Field.
This was the third time these two teams have met this year. Both teams entered with one win against each other. Twin Valley’s win however was the Pioneers (28-1) first loss of the season in the semifinals of the District 3 playoffs. It cost them a chance at the title.
Revenge is sweet though.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Pioneers exploded for 4 runs then added another in the second inning and before you knew it a rout was on.
The Pioneers pounded out 14 hits.
Summer Peters, the designated hitter, went 3 for 4 with a single, double and home run while driving in 3 runs.
Winning pitcher Senior Brynne Baker pitched out of a second inning, no-out bases loaded jam holding Twin Valley to zero runs in the inning.
Next up the semifinals where the Pioneers will play West Chester East.
