Pioneers heading to PIAA finals again!

The defending state champion Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers (28-1) are heading back to the PIAA Class 5A state softball title game. They defeated the District One champion West Chester East Vikings (24-3) 5-2 today at Avon Grove High School.

This will be their third trip to the finals in 4 years. Their opponent will be Penn-Trafford who defeated Donegal 5-4 today.

Byrnn Baker pitched a complete game 4-hitter with 2 strike outs and no walks. She had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning.

L-S didn’t waste any time as they scored in the bottom of the first after Brynn Baker singled and was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double allowing Chloe Blantz to score.

In the second inning Gabby Drumm drilled home run over the left center field fence to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the 5th inning Baker drove in another run with a double scoring Julz Garber.

Baker them then scored on a single by Byler.

The Pioneers put together 9 hits.

Page Gomez and Pam Olsen hit solo home runs for the Vikings 2 runs.

It’s been an amazing season for both the Pioneers softball and baseball teams. They are both heading to the state finals.
