As we enjoy the summer months with the football season ahead of us, here is one of the reasons the Barons of Manheim Central were so good this past season.
A Will Rivers 77 yard TD run is the video highlight.
Some have said this is the best offensive football play of the season for 2018-19 L-L League football.
Regardless, the Barons finished the season with a 14-1 record. They went to their 3rd state title game which they lost. They won it all back in 2003 against Pine Richland.
They won the District 3 Class 5A title beating Cocalico and won the LL League Section Two title with a 10-0 league record.
Below is the District 3 Title game highlights.
It was cold, below freezing cold but that did not stop the red hot Manheim Central Barons from winning their second District 3 Class 5A title in two years and 18th overall.
It was a lopsided 48-14 win for the undefeated Barons.
The Cocalico Eagles came out strong dominating the first 8 minutes of the first quarter. But then the Barons put the game into another gear.
Quarterback Evan Simon threw 5 touchdown passes in the game. Three in the first half to essentially put the game out off reach.
Barons’ running back Jake Harbach scored on an 11-yard run and Tyler Flick scored on a 3-yard run.
Cocalico’s QB Noah Palm scored both TDs for the Eagles.
The Barons (13-0) will now get ready for the District 1 champion Upper Dublin (12-1) in the PIAA Class 5A semifinals next week.
