Warwick beats Barons 37-7

Week 3: The Warwick Warriors defeated the Manheim Central Barons 37-7 Friday at Warwick High. Two streaks were broken. The Barons 27 game winning streak against L-L League teams. And the 35 year losing streak the Warriors had against Manheim Central. This was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Barons since 1983.

So how did this happen?

Warwick’s offensive line was simply dominant tonight.

Led by Nolan Rucci, a six foot eight inch junior and his fellow linemen seniors Jeremiah High, Hayden Benner and Hunter Diebler and junior Owen Campbell, along with junior tight end Thatcher Miller.

They allowed Warwick’s QB Joey McCracken to throw for 293 passing yards and three TDs. Colton Miller, the Warriors running back carried the ball 28 times for 128 rushing yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, the Warriors’ 3-4 defense kept Manheim Central stud QB Evan Simon (11 for 28, 126 passing yards, one TD, 10 rushing attempts for 54 yards) scrambling and stifled the Barons’ rushing game. Simon was sacked numerous times, and the rest of Manheim Central’s backfield produced 6 rushing yards on 10 carries.
