The Penn Manor Comets grip of first place was relinquished Thursday as they lost to the Manheim Township Blue Streaks 2-1.
The loss is the Comets’ first in over ten years when playing the Blue Streaks (8-3, 9-6).
In fact, it is only the second time in 13 years that the Comets (8-2, 12-4) have lost more than one game in Section One play.
The Comets are the reigning L-L League champs and played in the PIAA 6A finals last year, losing to Lower Dauphin.
They have been the dominating L-L League team along with Donegal in the recent past.
Here are the Comets’ field hockey record of accomplishments:
State Champions: 2008,2014,2017
District Champions: 1986,2009,2012,2017
League Champions: 1963,1974,1979,1986,2009,2010,2012,2013,2014,2017,2018

Two minutes into the match Penn Manor’s Tiana Edwards slashed the ball into the cage. Score one for the Comets.
But that was all they would score.
Although the Comets’ defense was sterling for the first half keeping the Blue Streaks to only 2 shots on goal. And only allowed 3 shots on goal in the second half.
Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 Blue Streaks shots scored.
Kayte Moist scored at 8:46 in the second half and Rea Fox at 17:59.
