Mennonite finishes 2nd in Districts

In the eleventh minute of the first half, Cameron Hoober put the Blazers (12-6-1) in front and thoughts of a repeat District 3, Class 2A championship started to simmer.

When Mesa Dula put Lancaster Mennonite on top 2-1 with a long blast and the halftime buzzer rang out it was starting to look good.

But in the second half, the Blazers’ Ethan Groff crashed into Fleetwood’s goalkeeper and the advantage fell to the Tigers with the extra player on the pitch.

Lancaster Mennonite’s goalkeeper David Rohrer kept them in the match with 4 saves. But Hunter Smith’s OT goal at the 86th minute ended any repeat title chance for the Blazers.

The Blazers will face Lansdale Catholic in the opening round of PIAA state playoffs.
