Warwick beats Barons 31-28

Quarterfinals District 3, Class 5A:

In a rematch of an early season game between these two, Warwick and Manheim Central went at it again and the results were the same. Warwick wins but this time it was a thriller- 31-28.

The back and forth drama was decided by a blocked punt and a field goal.

Tanner Haines’ nailed the game-winning 17-yard field goal in the District Three Class 5A football quarterfinal at Eden Rettew Stadium.

The Barons, the defending District 3, 5A champs for the last two seasons will have to wait until next year.

Central’s Senior QB Evan Simon passed for 214 yards while rushing for 104 yards and is now the second leading passer in L-L League history with over 8,000 yards passing.

The Warriors would not take “no” for an answer and answered every Barons’ TD with one of their own. Colton Miller ran for 166 yards and scored 3 TDs for Warwick.

Next up for the Warriors will be Cocalico who defeated Governor Mifflin 42-14. This will be the first time these teams will play each other this season.
