Crusaders beat Vikings for first place

Fredericksburg: The holidays are over and what better way to begin the New Year than with a battle for first place in Section 4.

And was it fun. Lancaster Catholic beat the Northern Lebanon Vikings 50-47 in OT.

This was one of those “anyone can win” games. And when the Vikings jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter everyone knew this was going to be a good one.

Catholic was led by Naomi Zuleuta who scored 18 points and Cassie Peris’ 10 points. Bry Hicks’ two 3-pointers helped a Catholic take the lead at the half.

However, the Lady Vikings outscored Catholic 14-8 in the 4th quarter to set up overtime play and a 41-41 tie game.

A Sommer Reeser 3-pointer in OT gave Catholic the lead for good.

The Vikings were handed their first loss of the season. Catholic is now on a nine game winning streak.
