L-L League Semifinals: The Cinderella story continues as the Pequea Valley Braves defeated the Section Three champion Solanco Golden Mules 52-48 before a packed house at Conestoga Valley H.S. tonight.
The lead swapped 10 times and it came down to the final minute and a half of play that would determine who will meet Lancaster Catholic in the L-L League finals on Thursday.
A quick layup by Bethany Bill drew the Braves to within one point 44-45.
Then with under a minute to play, Abbey Leslie stole the ball from a Solanco player, fired a football like pass to Brook Liney who then drove the paint for a layup that gave the Braves a 46-45 lead.
Bethany Bill was then fouled and she then drilled two foul shots for a 3-point Braves’ lead.
Abbey Leslie finished the game off with another foul shot and the Braves had their 4-point lead and eventual win.
What a tournament for the Braves. They win their first girls basketball playoff game ever last Thursday night against Manheim Central to get into the playoffs. Then they beat the “undefeated in league play” Hempfield, in the semifinals. And now they beat the Section Three champs Solanco to move on to the Lancaster Lebanon League finals! This is what makes High School sports such fun.
