What a night for the Lancaster Catholic basketball program.

First the Lancaster Catholic Girls Basketball team (number one seed) won their 3rd District 3 Championship in a row by defeating Eastern York 53-43 at the Giant Center tonight.

Then in the night cap the boys won their District 3, Class 4A title.

This is the 19th District 3 Championship for the Catholic Girls.

So how did the Crusader (25-3) girls do it?

A quick first quarter offensive burst put Catholic up 20-13. Zaniah Banks drilled two 3-pointers and Bry Hicks one trey in the first quarter.

At the half Catholic led 33-20.

As usual, the Catholic scoring was evenly distributed. They had three players in double digits.

Beautiful, quick ball passing and great rebounding was evident throughout the game. They out-rebounded Eastern York 30-24. And had two critical defensive rebounds in the fourth quarter when Eastern York
cut the lead to 48-43 very late in the fourth quarter.

However Catholic drilled 6 of 8 at the foul line to ice the game in the forth quarter.

The Crusaders will now move on and play the District Seven, seventh-place finisher in the opening round of the PIAA playoffs.
