Week 6: The Elco Vikings have clinched their first section title in 20 years with a 42-13 win over the Columbia Tide.
Their record improves to 5-0 in the section and (6-0) overall. They are hoping to achieve an undefeated season which would be the first since 1980.
Senior quarterback Braden Bohannon rushed for two first-quarter touchdowns, of 12 and 10 yards, to stake the Raiders to a 14-0 lead that would only grow as the night went on.
Bohannon also tossed a 50-yard TD pass to Luke Williams, who added an 8-yard touchdown run of his own. Cole Thomas also scored for the Raiders, via a 7-yard run.
Columbia had two touchdown passes from Robert Footman to Darnell Tucker.
Elco,which wraps up its regular season slate against Donegal next Friday, led 35-7 at the half, then brought the mercy rule into effect on Thomas’s scoring dash in the third.
