Catholic beats Riverside at buzzer

March 17th PIAA Class 3A State Playoffs:

St. Patrick’s Day……and the luck was with the Crusaders.

The Lancaster Catholic Crusaders have defeated the Riverside Vikings from Scranton 50-47 on a 3-point jumper, at the top of the key by Senior Nevin Roman.

During the season Roman nailed 33 treys.

This moves the Crusaders into the quarterfinals in the PIAA 3A basketball playoffs that will be played Friday March 20th. They will play the Math, Civics and Science High School.

The Crusaders have won the L-L Section Four crown, made it to the league tournament semifinals, won the district 3, 4A title and now move on to the quarterfinals in the PIAA Class 3A first-round playoff game, with an overall record of 18-4. During the Klazas era, the Crusaders have won 12 section crowns and four district titles. They’re making their ninth trip to the state tourney under Klazas.

Nevin Roman, Lancaster Catholic: The senior guard averaged 10.5 points, 1.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game, has made 33 3-pointers in 22 games, great defender.
