Bishop McDevitt beats L-S for title

November 26th: District 3, Class 4A title game:

The Bishop McDevitt Crusaders defeated the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers 7-0 at home last night to capture the District 3, Class 4A championship.

It was the Number One seed (McDevitt) vs the Number Two seed (Pioneers). And it was the Pioneers third district final in a row.

It was a rematch of the 2019 District Final 3 which L-S won.

The weather was dry and cold, very gold in the mid-30’s.

The last time the Pioneers were shutout was against Garden Spot in 2008.

Both teams carried winning streaks into this game. L-S was riding an 11-game streak that included 5 shutouts.

Bishop McDevitt was on a 10-game winning streak.

The Pioneers held freshman Crusader’s QB Stone Saunders to just 35 yards passing as he completed 3 of 14 passes.

It was the 3 L-S turnovers deep in Crusader territory which led to the loss for the Pioneers.

McDevitt’s Running back Marquese Williams ran for a 30-yard TD to give the Crusaders the lead and win.
