Pioneers tied for 1st by beating Barons 3-1

Before play today, the top 3 baseball teams in L-L League Section Three were separated by only two games. Donegal, LS and MC were 1, 2, and 3. And only the top two teams in the section will make it to the L-L League playoffs that start next week. Now to make it even more interesting, Donegal lost today to Northern Lebanon 3 to 1 and the Pioneers beat the Barons 3 to 1, to create a tie for first place. Both teams are now 11-3 in L-L League play. Hold on it gets better. Monday night, these teams will play each other. That should be fun.

Today the Pioneers were led by Matt Wright who had a four hit, two double day and by Sam Meck who pitched 6-hit baseball, with 5 strike outs. He also drove in 2 runs with 2 hits. His record is now 5-1. The Barons simply left too many runners on base today. However with a 9-4 Section Three record, there is hope for them as they have make up games to play so they could still make the playoffs.

There were some sterling plays in the field by both teams. Today’s game was played at Warwick as the Baron’s home field was drenched from all the recent rain. Enjoy the highlights.
