Central’s Mike Williams Interview

Media Day on Monday of this week enabled us to chat with Mike Williams. This will be his last year as the head coach of Manheim Central after a sterling career that includes: 330 wins and 16 District 3 championships-including 10 in a row from 1992-2001 and the last one in 2009 — and 20 L-L League section championships.

Williams also led Manheim Central to PIAA title games in 2003 (a win over Pine-Richland in the unforgettable Snow Bowl), 2004 (a loss to Thomas Jefferson) and 2009 (a loss to Selinsgrove).

We asked him some questions about his last year as head coach, about his new quarterback Tony Staffieri and about the tough competition in Section 2 this year with Garden Spot and Lancaster Catholic joining the ranks of the toughest section in the L-L League.
