The Mounts swept the season series 2-0 over the Comets (6-2 &#038; 5-0)<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39Ephrata Sr. Pitcher Camryn Simes threw a CG shutout, striking out 11 Comets (7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 11 K, 1 BB)<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39Ephrata Senior third-baseman Landry Weidner crushed a solo HR to start off a 4-run 6th inning for the Mounts Offense! They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-0 to the Ephrata Mountaineers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that&#8217;s the second time they&#8217;ve come up short against the Mountaineers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 back in April.<\/p>\n<p>Oliver Hanna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it&#8217;s clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn&#8217;t given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.<\/p>\n<p>As for Ephrata, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.<\/p>\n<p>On Ephrata&#8217;s side, not much got past Camryn Simes, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Penn Manor off the board.<\/p>\n<p>On the hitting side, Josiah Wiker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Landry Weidner also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penn Manor will host Twin Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets&#8217; pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Ephrata, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against South Western at 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
