Looking Back: Pioneers win state title

I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the Lampeter-Straburg Pioneers 2021 state softball title.

Here is the story that ran in June:

The L-S Pioneers have won their second state Class 5A softball title by defeating Armstrong 10-7 at the Penn State softball diamond yesterday.

They were behind 4-0 early but came back on clutch rbi doubles and singles and the home run power of Keiva Middelton and Cam Byler.

This is their second state softball championship in 3 years. They won states in 2019. In 2020, they played for a state championship but came in second. Three current senior players have played an all three championship games.

This senior class leaves with a a career mark of 81-8, or 91% win total In three played seasons. It will take some research to figure out but 33 team home runs has to be up there for a record, as does 328 runs scored in a season. The team only gave up 128 hits and 58 runs all year.
