If anyone thought the Penn Manor Comets would be at a disadvantage after their head coach Matt Soto resigned after 16 years at the helm last, that included 14 straight L-L League title, they would be wrong.
For the Comets defeated Manheim Township 2-1 last night to win the Lancaster-Lebanon field hockey title at Conestoga Valley High School.
Penn Manor’s head coach Rachel Suter is believed to be first field hockey coach to win L-L League title in first year as head coach. Suter is also a Penn Manor grad.
Now to the game highlights.
Six minutes left in the first quarter the Blue Streaks Brenna Campagna scored and Township took a 1-0 lead. That was their first goal against Penn Manor all season.
Within the next minute, Riley Robinson tied the match with her goal.
Then the Comets added a goal off a corner and that was all they would need for their second straight L-L title. It is their fourth in the last five years.
The District 3 playoffs begin October 26th. See the brackets below.
