Wyomissing loses in a semifinal squeaker

PIAA 3A Football Semifinals:

Talk about a wild finish to the PIAA 3A football semifinal game.

Neumann-Goretti took their first lead 14-10 with 2 minutes left in the game when Kyreese Bradley scored a TD off of a 3-yard run.

Wyomissing came storming back as QB Ben Zechman hit Charlie McIntyre with a 10-yard pass good for a TD and a leading score of 14-12 with just 34 seconds left in the game.

Neumann-Goretti scored the game winning TD on a Mekhi Wharton 44-yard pass to Qaasim Major for the win with 8 seconds left.

Drew Eisenhower scored a TD for Wyomissing along with Ian Levering’s 19-yard field goal.

The game was played at the Germantown Super Site in Philadelphia.

Neumann-Goretti (11-3) from District 12 will play Belle Vernon (12-2) from District 7 for the state 3A championship.

Shawn Battle scored a TD for Neumann-Goretti.

Wyomissing had an amazing season winning the PIAA District 3, 3A title and Section 4 Title in the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
