Bishop McDevitt wins 4A PIAA Finals

Bishop McDevitt came into this 4A PIAA championship game looking for revenge after a 34-27 loss last year to Aliquippa in the title game.

And redemption they received by winning 41-18.

Bishop McDevitt has a 160-30 record for the last 14 seasons under Head Coach Jeff Weachter. The only thing missing for him was a state title.

And now he as it.

From the first offensive play for McDevitt, it was clear they were here unleash their powerful offense.

Their QB Stone Saunders hit Ty Russell on a 70-yard TD pass for a 7-0 lead. And before the game was over, he passed to Russell for 3 more TDs. Saunders also scored his 100th career TD pass.

He hit 10 of 16 passes for 167 yards with 5 thrown TDs in the game.

This is the Crusaders’ second state crown since 1995.

It was their sixth appearance in a state championship football game.
