The Mannheim Central Lady Barons defeated the Pioneers of Lampeter Strasburg in the quarterfinal matchup 56-22.

Madie Knier led all scoring with 28 points. She is averaging 22 points per game.

Her success has turned the Lady Barons program around.

She is on the brink of catching and passing Hilary Waltman’s career record of 1937 points set in 1995. And could pass Taylor Funk’s career record for the boys 1977 set in 2017.

She needs 21 points in the semifinal game to pass Hilary Waltman. And needs only 83 points to become only the eighth player in L-L League basketball history to reach 2,000 career points.

Her success began with a 28-point game in her first varsity start two years ago.

Knier needs 21 points to pass Waltman and has two more games to reach 2,000 points. The league playoffs and the District 3 Class 6A quarterfinal game.

Manheim Central will play Columbia in the semifinals on Tuesday at Warwick High.

All four Section winners who went undefeated in section play this season, have advanced to the semifinal round of play.
