The L-L League Champion Hempfield Black Knights defeated the Emmaus Hornets in the first round of the Class 6A state tournament 62-59 Saturday at home.

It was a very close game that ended with Nick Deer drilling 4 free throws in the final minute for the win.

Hempfield’s senior Kamyn Lawrence scored 15 points in the first half.

An 11-0 run in the 3rd quarter propelled Hempfield.

Miguel Pena drilled 3 treys and 18 points for Hempfield.
