The Hempfield girls volleyball beat Wilson to win their fifth straight District 3, Class 4A championship last night.
The match went five games with scores of 25-21, 22-25, 26-28, 25-21 and 16-14.
This was the second year in a row that Hempield and Wilson were in the finals.
For Hempfield junior Addie Leber had 28 kills and three blocks.
In the fifth game Hempfield’s middle hitters Kennadi Strassmann and Izzy Edwards. Leber and Calabretta each had a pair of kills to give Hempfield an 8-3 cushion.
Heroes? Well….senior setter Melody Butzer had 52 assists and 11 digs for Hempfield. And Kate Howard notched 13 digs and Calabretta added 16 digs. Edwards and Strassmann each had seven kills, and Megan Shawaryn and Peyton Groff tallied two aces apiece to help with the win.
