Last year’s Elco-Northern Lebanon wrestling match came down to the wire when Elias Krow pinned Eli Ostermayer in the second to last bout to seal the three-point victory for the Raiders, ending the Vikings run of 10 straight Section 3 championships.
This year, a little less drama, as Northern Lebanon received two late forfeits to close out a 42-34 victory to reclaim the L-L Section 3 title on Wednesday.
Ostermayer played a key role in the victory for the Vikings this year, pinning David Nelson in a swing match at 172-pounds to stop the bleeding after Elco ran off four straight victories, three by pin, to build a 22-6 lead after five bouts.
Tanner Feagley responded with a fall of his own at 40 seconds at 189, and it was quickly a four-point match. After a Kyle Miller fall at 220 for the Raiders restored a 10-point lead, Northern Lebanon heavyweight Hayden Adams took only 15 seconds to record a fall before flipping the lineup back over to the Vikings strength.
