Softball: Annville tops Northern Leb

The Vikings and Dutchmen entered Friday as the two best teams in Section 4. With Northern Lebanon having taken the first matchup with a 6-0 win on April 12, Annville was looking to even the score when they visited Fredericksburg.

Annville scored two in the 1st and then added a pair of runs in the 3rd. Northern Lebanon responded with three runs in the 5th to make it a 4-3 score in favor of the Dutchmen. Annville would stretch the lead to 6-3 in the 6th. Northern Lebanon would respond with an additional run, but their rally would fall short as Annville held them in check.

Annville was led by Ashlyn Shaak, who went 3-4 with a run scored. Danika Setlock hit a two-run home run with a walk and a stolen base. Meda Pulaski also had 2 RBI. Pulaski also picked up the victory on the mound as she pitched all seven innings, giving up just one earned run and striking out twelve.

Northern Lebanon’s Olivia Shutter went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Addison Hollenbach knocked in an additional run for the Vikings.

Annville-Cleona (8-2) will host Kutztown on Saturday. Northern Lebanon (7-2) is in tournament play on Saturday. The two teams will enter next week tied atop the Section 4 standings.
