When the District 3, Class 5A softball playoffs began there were 16 teams playing for the title.

Today there were only two left.

The finals included Solanco (19-3) and unbeaten (23-0)South Western from Hanover.

The Golden Mules took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the 3rd inning when South Western took command of the game.

Their starting pitcher Jayda Koontz hit a home run and pitched a complete game.

Kelsey Smith hit a three-run shot that was the final blow in the 5th inning as South Western beat Solanco, 8-4.

This was the Mustangs second district title. Solanco has not yet won a District 3 softball title.

PIAA state playoffs begin next week and Solanco will continue their amazing 19 win season that now includes a silver medal in District 3, Class 5A playoffs.
