Wow…wow….wow…..with the tying run on third base and two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning, Hempfield’s Brody Gebhard struck out the La Salle College batter to bring home the Class 6A baseball state championship gold.

This is their first PIAA state championship in any sport.
Final score Hempfield wins 3-2.
Brayden Hostetter drove in 2 runs with a single in the top of the third inning for Hempfield for the lead score.
They added a third run in the inning on a La Salle College third baseman error to take a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the 7th inning Gebhard gave up a lead off double and then proceeded to induce a ground ball out and struck out 2 batters in a row.
What a year for him. He pitched a no-hitter in the quarterfinals of the state tournament and win the final game.
The game was delayed 2 hours before being played at Penn State University’s Medlar Baseball Field.
This is the 8th state title for L-L League baseball teams in the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
Coming into the game La Salle College High had won 14 games in a row.
