Penn Manor grads and sisters Brooke and Emma DeBerdine have been named to the 16-player roster that will compete for the United States in women’s field hockey at the upcoming Olympics in Paris, USA Field Hockey announced Tuesday.
Brooke graduated from Penn Manor in 2017 and Emma followed two years later. They were responsible for several championship titles for Penn Manor.
Here is a video of Brook’s team that won the 2017 PIAA 3A state title with a 28-0 record.
Manheim Central grad Jillian Wolgemuth also was part of the 28-player pool that was considered for the team but suffered an injury earlier this month in an FIH Hockey Pro League game.
“Losing Jill Wolgemuth from our group is a big loss,” U.S. head coach David Passmore said in a statement. “She has worked diligently over the past couple of years and her attitude and leadership was important to the team’s growth and Olympic qualification in India.”
The DeBerdines are both midfielders who attended the University of Maryland.
Here they are together celebrating a Big Ten Championship Title.
