Wilson tops Township for Section 1 Title

The Wilson Bulldogs have won their 22nd Section One football title in the L-L League.

They defeated Manheim Township 34-16 to hand them their first loss of the season and a second place finish in the L-L League.

Wilson entered their tilt with Manheim Township on Friday with six consecutive wins but they’ll enter their next game with seven. They strolled past the Manheim Township Blue Streaks with points to spare, taking the game 34-16. Wilson’s win was all the more impressive since the Blue Streaks were averaging only 10.3 points allowed on the season.

Wilson was led to victory by Madyx Gruber and Correll Akings. Gruber threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes, while Akings gained 131 total yards and two touchdowns. Gruber also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, defending two passes and snagged an interception.

Although Manheim Township took the loss, they still got scores from Declan Clancy and Taylor Veilleux.

Wilson’s victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Manheim Township, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-1.
