The 2025 baseball season is officially here. Now if the weather would only warm up!
Ephrata had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Warwick Warriors. This was payback for the Mountaineers, who suffered a 10-6 loss the last time these two teams met.
Ethan Hunt was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What’s more, he posted two RBI, the most he’s had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Custer, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run.
The Mounts Junior pitcher Camryn Simes (1-0) struck out 10 Warwick batters thru 6 innings, giving up 1 hit & 2 runs.
Warwick’s defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.
The Warriors’ 4 pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts of their own, but gave up 9 walks & hit 4 batters.
Looking ahead, Ephrata will host Donegal at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Warwick, they will venture away from home to square off against Hempfield at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
