Mounts lose first volleyball match

Governor Mifflin & Ephrata opened up their 2025 HS Volleyball Season with the Mustangs grabbing the 3-1 Win over the Mounts.

Ephrata unfortunately couldn’t capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-1 to the Governor Mifflin Mustangs on Tuesday. The Mountaineers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

While Ephrata ultimately came up short, they didn’t go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-18, 22-25, 25-18.

Austin Fries paced Ephrata’s offense, picking up 16 kills. Fries got some help from Brayden Fries and his 31 assists. Finally, Austin was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Ephrata is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will take on Daniel Boone at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Governor Mifflin, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Hempfield at 6:00 p.m. on March 26th.
