District 3, Class 5A Softball Finals:

Red Land defeated Solanco 6-2 to win the District 3, Class 5A Softball Championship.

Baseball is said to be a game of inches. The same holds true for its sibling, softball. Exhibit A: Friday’s District Three Class 5A championship game.

Sara DeFranceso hit a home run for Solanco but it was not enough to stop Red Land from

Two programs making their second appearances in a District Three softball championship game. Two programs each looking for its first district title. Something had to give.

Red Land scored four times in the seventh inning to break a tie on the way to a 6-2 victory and the championship.

Solanco came into to the game with a (24-2) record and was ranked as the 2nd seed.

Last year they lost the District final 8-4 to South Western.

Solanco won the L-L League Title this season as well as the Section 2 title.
