Wilson beats Hempfield

Wilson came tearing into Friday’s matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 38-28 win over the Hempfield Black Knights. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Black Knights, too.

It was another big night for Mason Young, who threw for 262 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 38 yards. 90 of Young’s passing yards were hauled in by Jaiden Carpenter, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Wilson didn’t go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Braydon Farrell, Elijah Dean, and Carpenter picked up one apiece. Farrell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Wilson’s victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Hempfield, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson will welcome Penn Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hempfield, they will face off against Exeter Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles’ defense has only allowed 7.1 points per game this season, so the Black Knights’ offense will have their work cut out for them.
