Friday November 14th: It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Solanco had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed past the New Oxford Colonials to the tune of 43-12. The Golden Mules might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by 28 points or more this season.

Johnny Garcia continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 191 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Chase Sensenig, who rushed for 76 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Solanco was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 345 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Oxford only rushed for 125.

Solanco didn’t go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Isaiah Wright, Tristan Brown, and Kali Hines picked up one apiece. Solanco got some further help from Gabe Forren: he made 15 total tackles.

New Oxford’s defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Brown, who rushed for 90 yards and one TD on only ten carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 65 yards. New Oxford also got help from Brody Holmes, who showed off his sure hands for 133 receiving yards.

The victory (which was Solanco’s 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.2 points on average over those games. As for New Oxford, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 11-1.

Coming up, Solanco will challenge Bishop McDevitt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Mules will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten games. New Oxford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
