Ephrata beats Garden Spot 58-35

Ephrata waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins… but they left with four. They breezed past the Garden Spot Spartans to the tune of 58-35. The Mountaineers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 28 points or more this season.

They used a crucial 15-0 run in the 2nd quarter to take command of the game.

The Mounts led it 9-8 after the 1st quarter… but ran off 15 straight points to start the 2nd quarter as Grayson Shellhammer (14pts) & Pharrell Whitfield (12pts) combined for 11 in the quarter! For the game, Ephrata made 5-10 3pters & over 20 free throws! Owen Sauder led the Spartans with 8 points!

Ephrata’s win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Garden Spot, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ephrata will take on Penn Manor in a holiday battle at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Garden Spot and Elizabethtown will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
