Round 2 of the Class 3A PIAA girls basketball tournament second-round game ended in a loss for Pequea Valley to Schuylkill Haven (24-5).
Both teams played in the same PIAA tournament last year in the second round which Pequea Valley won.
Both teams traded baskets to start the game as Shelyce Burke hit a three to give Pequea Valley (21-6) the early lead. Runkle knocked down a pair of two-point jumpers and the Hurricanes trailed 10-9 at the end of the first quarter.
Using a second-half surge, Schuylkill Haven (24-5) flipped the script from its loss a season ago, rolling to a 52-33 win and advancing to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 1985.
It was quite a season for the Pequea Valley Braves.
They finished in a tie for the L-L League Section 4 Title with Columbia.
And they made it to the finals in the District 3 , Class 3A District 3 title game. They lost to Trinity 47-43.
And won a state playoff game for the second time. And they did it all having lost six seniors from last season.
