Penn Manor extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 6-12. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-0 to the Ephrata Mountaineers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that’s the second time they’ve come up short against the Mountaineers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 back in April.

Oliver Hanna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it’s clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn’t given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

As for Ephrata, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.

On Ephrata’s side, not much got past Camryn Simes, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Penn Manor off the board.

On the hitting side, Josiah Wiker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Landry Weidner also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penn Manor will host Twin Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets’ pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Ephrata, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against South Western at 7:00 p.m.
