Senior Mason Koehler dominated throughout the set, putting the bow on set one with a final score of 25-12 in favor of Hempfield.

The Black Knights gave it their all, but North Allegheny went three for three in the next trio of sets to capture the 3A PIAA Boys Volleyball state championship.

Hempfield wraps up a great season as 3A runners-up.

Hempfield (21-2) couldn’t get over the hump after taking that 1-0 lead. NA never trailed in the second set, broke away from a 20-20 tie in the third, and finished fast in the fourth to raise its 10th PIAA gold trophy.

Final set scores were: 12-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-20. The Knights’ win in the first was the first time NA dropped a set this season.

“They earned it. It was a beautiful thing to watch throughout the year, and you can’t be disappointed when you lose to NA,” said Hempfield head coach Kenny Eiser. “We went in talking about how they are the team you want to play every time you go out, and if you don’t try and have that excellence every single time, then there’s no point in playing.”

Hempfield’s Head Coach Eiser had nothing but praise for a senior group that he said helped restore the Black Knights’ standard.

“The seniors have shown everybody behind them now, all the middle school kids that have come out to all the matches throughout the year, what it takes to get here. The dedication, the practice time, the match consistencies, everything that it’s going to be for the rest of their lives, hopefully as they come up through the program.”

Hempfield fonishes the season as the Lancaster Lebanon Champions, they came is 3rd place in District 3 and they take home the silver in PIAA Class 3A state championships.
